Before making your purchase, we are sure you have some questions that need answering to make sure you get the correct coarse fishing reel for your needs. When it comes to fishing reels for coarse or match fishing - there are two types.
Fixed Spool Fishing Reels
The fixed spool fishing reels are the most popular type in coarse and match fishing. One the important thing to look at when you are choosing your reel is the material that it is made from. One of the most common materials that fishing reels are made from is carbon which is strong, light and durable making the reel very balanced with higher performance than some of the older materials. There are other variations of materials that are used in the manufacturing of reels which vary from suppliers such as aluminium and graphite.
Another important aspect to consider whilst purchasing your coarse fishing reel is the amount of ball bearings which are in the reel. Generally the more ball bearings in a reel the smoother the action and the higher the overall quality of the fishing reel is.
Additionally when looking to purchase your fixed spool fishing reel you should consider the amount of drag it offers. In our range we offer a choice of both front & rear drag fishing reels & both of these systems have their own pro's and con's & ultimately the decision is down to personal preference.
Here are Fishing Republic we stock a wide range of fixed spool fishing reels from renowned manufacturers such as Shimano, Daiwa and Drennan.
Centrepin Fishing Reels
The main difference between a fixed spool & a centre pin fishing reel is that the centrepin reel will operate on a central pin system which the body of the reel will rotate around. The difference in system means that the centrepin fishing reel will sit to the side of your rod with the handle on top allowing your line to leave your reel without any friction or drag.
