Carp Fishing Bivvies

The days of angling's braving the harsh weather conditions without having a shelter have passed, times have moved on and now anglers who rough it all night can enjoy relative comfort that a bivvy, bed chair and sleeping-bag provide. The word bivvy is short for "Bivouac" - which was a traditional shelter that has been used over the years by explorers and mountaineers. Fisherman and anglers have taken the idea and combined it with a tent to create what we know today as a fishing bivvy.

With a vast choice of fishing bivvies on the market, you are guaranteed to find the perfect shelter for all of your carp fishing needs. Here are some tips & tricks so you can choose the ideal carp bivvy.

In our range of Bivvies, we have three different types; first of all we have the classic bivvy. This is fully enclosed which offers a ribbed construction and is available in 2 sizes, single & double. The second choice would be a brolly system, these are modelled on an umbrella but offering extended sides and back that hang down to the floor. This bivvy system is often used on shorter fishing trips and is ideal for protecting you from rain with a fast erection time. Lastly, is a combination of a fully enclosed bivvy and a brolly system. These types of bivvies combine an open fronted shelter with the traditional ribbing of other bivvies.

Bivvy Properties

There are many important factors to take into considering when choosing your bivvy, first and foremost - you need to make sure that the fishing bivvy you are looking at is waterproof. All of the bivvies that we offer at Fishing Republic are fully waterproof and tested, guaranteed to protect you from the harshest weather conditions. You should also think about the breathability of the bivvy. This is almost as important as the waterproof rating of the bivvy.

Breathability is the protection against condensation, which occurs when water vapours make contact with the cold surface of the bivvie's fabric. When this happens the inside of the bivvy will become wet and form water droplets which will eventually drop on to you and your gear.

Here at Fishing Republic, we stock a range of carp fishing bivvies & brolly systems from renowned manufacturers such as , Nash, Avid CarpFox & Sonik & we hope that this guide will help you make your decision when choosing your bivvy. Whether  you are looking at a single bivvie or a brolly system, please get in touch if you require any other information to help you make your decision.
